Wyze Google Home Not Working: How to Fix [2022]

The integration of my Wyze devices with my Google Home app has been a fantastic experience, until recently when it stopped working.

My Wyze devices pop up on the Google Home app, but they are tagged as offline when they are clearly online.

This miniature bug seemed to be insignificant at first, but a quick Google search told me this was in fact an issue that has been in the system for a long time.

So I made this one-stop troubleshooting article on how you can fix your Wyze devices not syncing correctly on your linked Google Home.

If your Wyze Google Home is not working, add the Wyze devices to a Home on the Wyze app and relink the Wyze account to Google Home. Make sure the device is updated to the latest firmware. If the issue persists, factory reset the Wyze devices.

Add Home on Wyze App

Add Home on Wyze App

This is a weird workaround that was dug up by a Reddit user on the Wyze threads soon after they themselves faced issues with their Wyze devices and Google Home.

Fortunately, this works for most users and they were able to get back control of their Wyze devices using Google Home.

After verifying with Wyze Customer service, it is a combination of the common troubleshooting steps they usually provide, along with a few additional steps.

In order to apply the suggested fix for your Wyze devices not working with Google Home, simply follow the steps below:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Select the Wyze device tile.
  • Tap on the Settings gear.
  • Select Remove device.
  • Confirm your selection by selecting Remove.
  • Exit the Google Home app.
  • Uninstall the Wyze app from your smartphone or tablet, if previously installed.
  • Reinstall the Wyze app from the application store of your smartphone or tablet, depending on the operating system (iOS or Android).
  • Log in to the Wyze app with your Wyze account.
  • From the homepage of the Wyze account, tap on the Account tab.
  • Tap on Home.

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap on Add.
  • Select Set up device.
  • Tap on the Works with Google option.
  • Find and select your Wyze Home name listing.
  • Log in again with your Wyze account to confirm adding the account.

Your Wyze devices should show up and work properly on the Google Home app now.

Update to the Latest Wyze Firmware

Update to the Latest Wyze Firmware

The issue with Wyze devices not syncing correctly with Google Home has been an issue that has existed since Wyze introduced the integration.

But unfortunately, this has been too insignificant of an issue that Google and Wyze have yet to respond to the bug and take steps to fix abnormalities.

That being said, Wyze does push out firmware updates on a regular basis and has been known to fix small issues without mentioning them in the changelogs.

So the best step you can take in order to receive and fix your Wyze devices not working properly with Google Home is to keep your devices updated.

In order to update the firmware of your Wyze device to its latest available version, simply follow the steps below:

  • Connect your Wyze device to your Wyze app. Make sure the device is active and running.
  • From the home screen of the Wyze app, select the Wyze device you want to update the firmware of.
  • Tap on the Settings gear option.
  • Tap on Device Info.
  • Click on the Firmware version option.

This will trigger the Wyze app to check for updates. If there are any pending updates, the Wyze app will let you know and automatically initiate the update process.

Factory Reset Your Wyze Devices

Factory Reset Your Wyze Devices

If the above steps fail, then the only option left from the user side is to factory reset your Wyze devices.

This might seem like a bit of a hassle, but wiping the device completely can help clear out any bugs that might have crept onto the system during its daily functioning.

This will also unlink all accounts and devices, making sure that the Wyze device gets a fresh start at setting up and configuring integrations with Google Home.

That being said, performing a factory reset varies between the different Wyze devices available.

In order to perform a factory reset on a Wyze Pan camera, simply follow the steps below:

  • Wait for a minute till the unit begins the reset process. This can take up to 5 minutes in some cases.

Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

The integration of Wyze with Google has had its fair share of crusts and troughs, with at one point Wyze being removed from Google's supported services.

Judging from the timeline of reports, it is fair to say that the issues of misbehavior of Wyze devices with Google services were noticed since then.

But all was rectified, and Wyze was added back to the foster of supported third-party services with Google, but the connectivity issues lingered on.

If you still face issues with controlling your Wyze devices with Google Home, then it is best to contact Wyze or Google support.

I hope my troubleshooting article on how to fix the Wyze devices not working with the Google Home app has been a helpful read and has aided you with the same.

Have a good day!
